Care and Maintenance

Regular Cleaning

Dust regularly using a soft brush, feather duster, or a can of compressed air, especially around petals and leaves where buildup can hide.

Deep Cleaning

If possible, remove each stem and gently rinse under cool water or wipe with a damp microfiber cloth. For stubborn grime, mix a mild soap with water and lightly dab problem areas, making sure to avoid soaking or scrubbing, as this may damage delicate petals. Let everything air dry completely before reassembling.

Storage

Store arrangements in a cool, dry, place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. When storing loose stems, stand the stems upright in a box or vase to help maintain their shape. Avoid stacking anything heavy on top of boxed flowers.

Things to Avoid

Avoid using harsh chemicals or cleaning products, as they can discolour or damage the fabric. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading, so display arrangements out of direct light whenever possible. Excess moisture or humidity can also lead to fabric warping or dust buildup, so it’s best to keep faux florals in a dry, well-ventilated environment.

Temperature

Keep arrangements in a stable environment between 10°C - 30°C (50°F - 86°F). Avoid placing arrangements near heat sources like radiators, vents, or direct sunlight, as excessive heat can cause colours to fade and materials to warp. Similarly, very cold environments or storage areas with fluctuating temperatures can make fabrics brittle over time.

Humidity

High humidity can lead to fabric softening, excess dust buildup, and even minor warping over time. To maintain the integrity of silk flowers, keep arrangements in well-ventilated, low-humidity environments, and avoid storing them in bathrooms, kitchens, or other areas prone to damp air.

Shape Retention

Silk flowers are designed to hold their shape, but they still need a little support now and then. When storing or transporting arrangements, make sure they’re cushioned and not compressed. If petals or leaves become bent, gently reshape them by hand or use a hairdryer on low heat to coax them back into place. Avoid stacking heavy objects on top of boxed flowers, and don’t over fill boxes to prevent flowers from squishing together and losing their shape.
